Actress Alicia Silverstone has long been a fan of a vegan and macrobiotic diet - and now she is bringing her weight-loss and nutrition tips to the public with a new book.
Set to be published in fall 2009, The Kind Diet will focus on how people's eating choices can affect the planet as well as their bodies.
The volume will include a three-step diet program for those who want to shed pounds, as well as 75 meat-free, macrobiotic recipes to try out in the kitchen.
When she first arrived on the scene as the star of Clueless, Silverstone was considered to have a relatively curvy figure for Hollywood. However, since she stopped eating meat, the actress has lost several pounds.
She has told Marie Claire magazine that people who want to lose weight should concentrate on eating healthily.
"Talk to your doctor about a simple vegetarian diet," she advised. "If you eat this way, you simply can't be fat."
Indeed, Pam Krauss of Rodale - which is publishing Silverstone's book - said that the actress' down-to-earth attitude should appeal to readers.
"Her enthusiasm for her program is infectious," she added.
